Voices Found Repertory presents:
Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare
Titus Andronicus, a Roman war hero, provokes the wrath of an enemy queen and incites a cycle of renvenge killings that leaves countries and families in ruins. It’s an eye for an eye (and then some) in Shakespeare’s most bloody revenge tragedy.
This is the story of a soldier who comes home from war and finds
that there is no place for him in the world he fought to save. Titus has lived by the law of the
battlefield for so long that an act of mercy is foreign to him. He commits a single act of violence
in a time of peace, and Tamora, who begged for mercy to no avail, becomes merciless in pursuit
of her revenge. From then on, the city that Titus fought for turns against him, and he swiftly
becomes the one who begs for mercy and discovers that revenge is much more easily attained.
All of the troubling events in this play could have been avoided if just one person had show
mercy and listened instead of saying, as so many do throughout this play, “I will not hear her
speak.” Person after person begs for mercy in the street and find the ears of those who hear to be
as deaf as stones.
Performances: Sept 27, 28, 29 @7:30pm, Sept 30 @ 2pm. October 4, 5, 6 @ 7:30, Oct 7 @2 pm
